NEWS
Our host, Herb Tanimoto, writes:
I am welcoming guitar legend Muriel Anderson back to my home for a house concert on Monday, October 22, 7:30PM. I just got back from the International Guitar Championships in Winfield, Kansas, and saw and lot of great finger-picking. After 36 years of competition, Muriel remains the only woman to have won. Muriel's influences range from Doc Watson to Andres Segovia. In her early years, she performed with the all women Wildwood Pickers that was the house band for Bill Monroe's Bean Blossom Festival. She took lessons from mandolin master Jethro Burns and through him met his brother-in-law, Chet Atkins. With Chet's guidance, she learned his all encompassing style that is her trademark today. I will be serving sushi and wine. Seating is limited and reservations required. $10-20 donation suggested.
