After reading your writing I am more excited than ever to have you teach my students.  Your teaching is the most inclusive of the essential details I've seen to date.”   Gordon Rowland, Owner, GuitarWork, Novato, CA

Folsom Public Library is happy to welcome Daniel Roest back again for another summer music workshop for our young teen patrons. Daniel's program is very well received here in our community and we are excited by his return. He is an excellent teacher and a gifted musician.Debbi Centi, Youth Services, Folsom Public Library

We've been with you for several years and I have been so pleased with your teaching.  You are a patient, kind and talented man. Thank you for everything!!!Stacy Thompson, Folsom, CA

“Hi Daniel,Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the wonderful guitar lessons you are teaching Prateek - I see a marked difference in his guitar playing as well as general focusing abilities. Many thanks for nurturing his guitar playing skills - we all love the way you teach!Monika Sane, Folsom, CA

Daniel, your lesson was very well thought out and executed.  The students all responded with intrigue and respect.  Using the continuum line to demonstrate concepts and vocabulary words throughout your entire lesson was incredibly effective.  The students understood it, kept referring to the vocab words on the wall and responded on many different levels to the visuals you provided.  The exercise in which you had them gradually increase their volume was effective and fun. The students were all engaged and determined...Your engage activities were very well scaffolded into your main activities.  Again, the main activity of gradually increasing the volume from student to student on different instruments was very effective in helping grasp the concept of levels and how much that can vary from instrument to instrument. The students loved it! Your reaction to the student with the electric guitar was also fun…”   Chelsea Hunt, Arts Education Training and Partnerships Associate, Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission

5 out of 5 stars   “Beautifully played and recorded guitar music.”Great Guitars! is a beautifully recorded Latin-tinged set by Bay Area guitarist Daniel Roest. Daniel picks some of the favorites of the guitar repertoire and plays them with nuance and style.”  Reviewer: Guy Cantwell, Cabrillo College Guitar Instructor

5 out of 5 stars   “Stunning performance!” “Beautifully played and very relaxing. Never heard Moorish Dance played with such emotion.”  Reviewer: Eric Ayzenberg

5 out of 5 stars   “Excellent music.” “This CD is a great collection of classical guitar music. I especially like the last piece-Moorish Dance. Every piece was played with great precision and skill. I highly recommend it to everyone.” Reviewer: Don Chiu

5 out of 5 stars   “Highly Recommended. Musical, joyful and intimate.” “A highly enjoyable musical experience is presented here on Great Guitars!, Mr. Roest’s first album. The songs are all great, but the best part is how they are performed. Rather than just presenting selections intended only to show off a performer’s technique as seems common today, Mr. Roest has instead focused on musicality. As a result, there is a unique smoothness and flow to each piece, which leads to greater musical pleasure. There is also an underlying joyfulness that I found quite uplifting. The sound quality is topnotch, giving a feeling of intimacy and aliveness. I highly recommend this CD.”  Reviewer: David Pardee

Very very nice, many people have recorded this [Leyenda] and this is one of the best. You do a great job on this. Many people would be well served to watch this and see how this piece should be played. All the Best - Allan Alexander”    —Guitarist and composer-arranger Allan Alexander, Tucson, AZ, 3/14/2011

BRAVO! An artist, a polished performer with a sense of drama, a keen sense of musical content... most satisfying in every way... What a pleasure!”    —San Jose City College Music Department

Mendocino received a great gift on Saturday with Daniel Roest's concert in the Theater at the Mendocino Art Center. Daniel is one of the great treasures in the contemporary scene of Classical Guitar. With his great heart, technique, engaging wit, along with a thorough knowledge of the history of the Classical Guitar, Daniel has that rare ability to embrace the audience and create a unity of emotion with his listeners. When he played Philip Rosheger's 'Serenade' and Agustín Barrios' 'Una Limosna por el Amor de Dios,' there was not a dry eye in the room. Likewise when he played 'Asturias (Leyenda)' by Albeniz, and 'Caçique' by the Brazilian composer, Attilio Bernardini, great passion was aroused, and you could feel joy and excitement in the audience. With Daniel's very unique repertoire, ranging from his own compositions, traditional Classical Guitar repertoire, to pieces dedicated to Daniel and his son, Craig, along with his great humor, Daniel Roest is one of the great Artists of our time. His concert received standing ovations. If you get the opportunity to hear Daniel, you will be moved by his most expressive and masterful playing. It will enrich your life.”—Robert Burns, Fort Bragg, CA8/23/2010

“Dear Mr. Roest,
I was lucky enough to be present for your Mt. Hamilton performance last evening.  Your skill and interpretations were endlessly impressive.  I enjoyed every piece, and the variety.  I look forward to the next chance to hear you, and in the meantime will have to content myself with your recordings.  I just ordered Great Guitars.  Thanks for a memorable evening.
Sincerely,”  —Matthew Scott, Stanford University School of Medicine8/29/2010

The performance of Daniel Roest at the [2009] Sierra [Nevada] Guitar Festival was delightful, fulfilling emotionally and filled with great understanding for the music. The presentation of the program was very informative and educational, and his playing was full with love, joy and purity for the art of the guitar.—Vasil Chekardzhikov, Member of Triada Guitar Trio, Coordinator of the Guitar Program at OCHSA in Orange County, CA, USA
